Does the world feel heavy to you right now? It certainly does to me; I really can’t imagine it otherwise. Every time I open a device, I’m bracing myself for new (terrible) news, updates on an ever-worsening economy, more death and war.

How I’ll segue from that to self-care should be studied by gymnasts everywhere.

But here’s the thing. We can only do so much when it comes to the weight of the world. We can vote, speak out, and support organizations who make a difference. But when you’ve exhausted those?

Then you’re just doomscrolling, my friend. You’re just spiraling. You’re taking comfort in that black cloud of worry, but you need to take a step back.

You need to take care of yourself. We need to lift that mood.

Except so often we think of lifting our moods as almost selfish or surface, and of taking care of ourselves as an expense. As something we can buy, a product we can have at our door in two days, a treatment we can book. But that’s not really self-care, is it? Sure, it’s part of taking care of our skin and our bodies. But really taking care of yourself and bringing your headspace out of the cloud is more about intention and action.

And since things are more expensive than ever before, I present:

Here are 25 easy ways to reliably boost your mood that you can weave into your day. Each is grounded in science but feels Pinterest-worthy, without the aesthetic affiliate link. I promise we’ll feel better in just a few minutes 🩷
